Putting the Puzzle Pieces of Life Together With Wisdom, Instruction, Sense & Encouragement

Accept Peace

We have finished up Christmas and our year is winding down.  Many of us tend to look back over our year and analyze where we have been.  Did we accomplish anything significant?  Did we have lots of problems?  Some of us will even look at what went on in the World as a whole.  Did we have lots of disasters, increase in crime, political issues, war, or problems with the economy?  Or did things improve in the World?  Did we make progress with curing disease or did new diseases arise?  Sometimes looking back over our year can stir up a lot of emotions.  We remember fights we had with a family member or friend.  We relive the work problems we struggled through.  Maybe we were spiritually or emotionally drained from turmoil with our church or social club.  We tend to remember more of the negatives about life than we do the positives sometimes.  Life tends to take away our peace.  I know I prefer to be in a peaceful state.  The stress really can wipe me out physically, emotionally and spiritually.

We just finished celebrating the birth of Christ and one of my favorite verses found on many Christmas Cards is found in Isaiah 9:6 –

6 For a child will be born for us, a son will be given to us, and the government will be on His shoulders. He will be named Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.

Jesus came to this Earth as the Prince of Peace and to bring peace.  For those who have not received the gift that Jesus brought to us, there is no real peace.  There are temporary forms of peace that mankind tries to achieve, but they are all very fleeting.  Job, who was a godly man, tells us in Job 22:21 –

21 Come to terms with God and be at peace; in this way good will come to you.

When you read through the book of Job, you see a man with a lot of wisdom.  This is some pretty good advice he is giving us.  To come to terms with God, we just need to recognize that we have sinned and that we need Jesus to believe that Jesus died on the cross for our sins.  We need to understand that He conquered sin when He died and rose again.  We just have to accept that wonderful gift and we will be at peace and good will come to us.  Wisdom is to accept the free gift of peace that Jesus offers to us.  I know I couldn’t pass up that offer.  After all who wouldn’t want everlasting peace with God.  I hope you have the wisdom to accept God’s gift of peace found in Jesus.
