Up On The Altar

Have you ever thought about Romans 12:1 – “Therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, I urge you to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God; this is your spiritual worship.”?  The Apostle Paul asks us to present our bodies as a living sacrifice.  When an animal was placed on the altar for sacrifice, they placed the whole body on the altar.  They didn’t kill and cut up the body and then place just the leg or the heart on the altar.  They placed the whole living body up on the altar and then did the sacrifice.  If we are to live a Godly life, one that pleases God, then we are to place our whole body up on the altar.  We are to die to ourselves.  That means every aspect of our lives is to be placed on the altar.  We are to place our eyes, our ears, our stomach, our legs, our minds, etc up on the altar.  We are die to the bad things our eyes shouldn’t look at, like bad movies or porn.  We are to die to listening to inappropriate music.  We are to die to eating out of control.  We are to die to walking ourselves in to places of sin.  The list can go on and on, when we place our whole body on the altar.  Are you placing your whole body on the altar?
